Here are the updates I made for this week for the Group Project game: Of Whom We Hold Dear.

Edit the sliding box puzzle to randomise quicker

If players were fast enough at finding the significant object they would have to wait for the puzzle to finish randomising. This is due to two ‘waitforseconds’ commands which were needed to prevent the puzzle from auto-completing on the start of the scene, however was too slow despite being about 1 second each.

Now no matter how fast the player is, the puzzle will be randomised before the beginning cutscene finishes.

Create 4 more family letters

Family_Letter_01.png

The family letters contains lore about the game as well as about the characters condition. They will also shows the idea that a large amount of time has passed between each memory to express how those who suffer from anterograde amnesia cannot remember anything that has happened since they first started suffering from it.

Populating the noticeboard

The noticeboard will contain the previously created family letters, doctor notes, tasks to do and instructions. The noticeboard will fill up as the player progresses through the game to which at the end they will have access to them all.

Creating a crosshair in the centre of the screen

The idea of the crosshair is to help the player judge where the centre of the screen is and will replace the cursor pointing at interactive objects.
