Here are the updates I made for this week for the Group Project game: Of Whom We Hold Dear.

Adding sound effects and prompts

I have now added sound to various parts of the game:

  • When the puzzle board has been completed
  • When each of the lights turn off and on
  • Background ambience at night
  • When the fuse box handle is cranked

These sound effects and prompts are useful for the player to match the action to the sound effect as the player may not be able to see an action visually but may still be able to hear it.

Fixed the text prompts for certain items onscreen

Some text prompts were not showing correctly when the player was looking at the object but this has now been fixed.

Also some other text prompts for when the player is not looking at the object but the text is still showing has now been fixed as well.

Have someone playtest the game

I was able to have someone playtest the game to see how they would manage with the game mechanics and how they feel about the game in general. The feedback from them was useful as we were able to highlight some bugs that have slipped through.
